Simon Wheatley: Introduction to WordPress at BarCamp Leeds 2007

My session for BarCamp Leeds was on “An Introduction to WordPress”, and I put together a nice graphical presentation for it… only to find the laptop playing up and unable to connect to the screen!

After five minutes of panicked button clicking and restarting, I realised that this wasn’t going to happen and moved over to the whiteboard. I think it went alright, I’d certainly be interested to hear what people thought of it.

So, for those poor souls who sat through me frantically scribbling on a whiteboard, let’s have a look at what you could’ve won (PDF, 1.5mb).

It’s not all bad though… my lovely wife got upset for me when I texted her what had happened, and I got the new Róisín Murphy album as a consolation prize. (Mmmm, electro pop.) Every cloud has a silver lining!

  1. Very good slides! I think your preparation showed – I wouldn’t have had a clue where to start talking if I had to do it on a flipchart!

  2. Hi Mike, thanks… I think if I’d had a presentation nearer the beginning of the day I’d have been nervous about hitting the whiteboard and a lot more red in the face, but the day was relaxed and everyone was friendly so I was happy to abandon the laptop.
