The Government double charges us for data
I’ve just felt sufficiently exercised to write to my MP, about the UK government charging for information they’ve collected with our (the UK taxpayers) money. The Get Human database
UK organisations with the steps needed to get through their infernal touch tone phone menus to speak with a real live human being. Absolutely brilliant.

Hold down F12 for 2 seconds to eject a CD or DVD. Especially useful for those situations where the CD/DVD icon hasn’t appeared on the desktop for some reason.
Co-ordinate Conversions (Postcode Map)
“A Java package which provides a simple API to allow conversion between OSGB (Ordnance Survey of Great Britain) grid references, UTM (Universal Transverse Mercator) references and latitude and longitude.” (More grist for the Arts & Kids events listing.)
A guide to coordinate systems in Great Britain
“A primer on coordinate system concepts, including full information on GPS and Ordnance Survey coordinate systems.” Useful for converting latitude/longditude into OS co-ordinates (which we’re looking at for an events listing guide for Arts & Kids).
